PureGH2 is focused on providing business, communities and people generally with a Green Energy alternative to fossil fuels. Our intent is to make our product the most cost competitive and environmentally friendly in the marketplace.
The #climatecrisis requires everyone to take action in whatever way we can to reduce the consumption of fossil fuel based energy. The PureGH2 founder was motivated to do more than just talk, be outraged about, and protest at the way the major oil and gas multinationals are inflicting massive damage on our Planet’s most vulnerable people and the environment. So he founded PureGH2 in 2020 to enable businesses and communities to establish their own off-grid electricity production platform that delivers clean energy at a competitive cost.
We are based in the North West of Ireland and source the different components of our PureGH2 platform from best-in-class partners who have the same environment protection and conservation ethos as ourselves.
We provide our clients with two collaborating platforms – one to produce off-grid electricity (i.e. not drawn from the commercial electricity network), the other to produce Green Hydrogen(GH2).
We produce the off-grid electricity using an innovative and environmentally friendly micro-hydro platform that utilises proven leading-edge technology to harness the power of slow moving water (like a river) and converting that power into electricity.
That off-grid electricity can be used in buildings, workplaces, communities, agricultural environments, and other business enterprises to provide light, heat and the power needed to deliver a variety of products and services.
The excess off-grid electricity can also be used to produce GH2 – which is primarily to store that excess electricity. Hydrogen essentially acts as a battery for those times when the off-grid electricity demand exceeds supply (similar to how a diesel generator works), or as a source of revenue by selling the excess produced Hydrogen to fulfill other commercial needs like GH2 fuel for vehicles, fertilizers, etc.
We looked at many options but decided that our solution to the #climatecrisis is to provide SME (small to medium size enterprises) with a solution that can be implemented in 6-9 months and also be self-managed.
The solution of course must also reduce the cost of using power in everyday usage, and have the same risk profile as current on grid services. So, we eventually concluded that combining the most underutilised and cleanest source of energy available – which is slow moving water, with the most innovative (and proven) way to store/re-use electricity offered the best value proposition for clients.
We only produce Green Hydrogen (GH2) because there is no fossil fuel used in the micro-hydro generated electricity feed stock to power the electrolyzer that produces GH2. We then store this GH2 in a number of ways such that it can be used to provide power for many different needs.
Any existing on-grid connections can be used to balance a commercial enterprise's power load (with the off-grid supply), or be a backup for the off-grid platform.
